Kolomyia is a magic travel destination [09 Mar 2011|10:13pm]

sergeykemskiy
Kolomyia is a magical corner of the natural Carpathian landscape. It is also an important spiritual, cultural, artistic and economic center of the region with a rich and glorious history, which attracts scholars and artists from all over Ukraine and abroad. Tourists from all over the world hurry to see unique collections in museums, visit mountain ski resorts and numerous vacation spots. Kolomyia is located in the southeastern part of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, halfway between Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi, just between mountain ski resorts. Due to its favorable location, the city received from tourists very aptly title of "Gateway to the Carpathians".

A great place for skiing! Bukovel! [28 Dec 2010|12:56am]

sergeykemskiy
Hi all!
Let me tell you about  Bukovel. It is a place which  ideally combines excellent facilities for sport and fun hanging out with the peace and quiet. Those who have ever visited mountains of Bukovel, in this corner of the fabulous snow in the winter, which wandered through the first spring thawed, who breathed with this crystal clear air, return Bukovel again and again. Recreation in Bukovel is great at any season, but first of all, Bukovel is the ski resort, so the best time to come to Bukovel is winter. Everyone go watch that until the very end (we kind of messed up and didn't cut the music off) and if you have a youtube account rate it.

It's for Winter at Westminster and I can hopefully win a pair of skis if my group gets the most views and ratings!

THANKS!

Yeah Hi My name is Chris...I live in Waterford Michigan...Um Yeah I am a racer...I used to ski for Waterford United but I had to quit...turns out I have to work and do well in school too...lol
But Yeah I have gone skiing up north quite a few times...I love Nubs and Marquette...
But right now I am kinda restricted to Pine Knob...Yeah not all that great...
Any way I have lately started free skiing...I have made a few trips to the park and I have had a blast...I am on a pair of 64 Dynystars...I love 'em!
So does anyone else live in this area and desire to be on the real slopes?

My friend Casey, aka caseypeterson came out to visit me in montana this last week. we had lots o' fun. The following are a couple of action shots we took while we were shredding the slopes at bridger bowl.

my God! will you look at that power wedge. Youve got that form nailed!

God im sick!

this is when casey and i lost control and went into the ribbons marking the side of the trail, and then got all tangled up and couldnt get out.

all in all we had a lot of fun. we bought speakers to hook up to my mini disc player so that we could listen to music as we skied and so that everyone else could listen to it too. but they wouldnt work! so we couldnt do it. bummer.

ps. these pictures are a joke. we actually really do rip.

so i've been skiing park for awhile, but just learning tricks this year. or at least advancing them. i had a couple questions.
i can really boost some big 3s and i like to think they're pretty stylish. lately i've been trying 5s, with little or no success. i got the rotation down once and skidded out on my landind. i will practise landing switch. anyways, the other times i bailed semi hard. once i threw myself too hard and did like a cork 3 but bailed so hard. the other times i never really got around to doing the rotation.
so what advice can you give me about getting that last 180 around? apparently i should be looking more over my shoulder, and instead of launching off jumps should pop more. i think a problem i have is before i take off, i kind do a pizza thing to start the rotation. should i not be doing this and just going off straight and starting my rotation when i get in the air?
also, for mutes and crosses and the like, which i want to throw in. if i'm spinning natural (to my left) do i want my left skiing crossing over my right or vice versa. i always figured the right leg over the left because it follows the spin.
also, how hard are backflips and lincoln loops? i can do flips on my trampoline without skis and they were pretty easy, te whole concept seems easy. i kinda just want to go and huck myself off but that's never a good idea right.

do any of you guys post on newschoolers? i'm joony.

In, about......13 days, i will be returning home to Issaquah Washington. Where i will have lots of fun and go skiing with caseypeterson. I will teach him to ride park, and how to pole plant. Maybe He'll master the pony trail...we'll see.*.....Anyway...We'll probly be at Snoqualmie or Stevens, look for us, we'll be in neon 80's jumpsuits with boomboxes on our shoulders. late.

*disclaimer: casey really rips at park and skiing in general and is way better than me. kthx.

so how many of you guys watched the X-Games slopestyle? it's being streamed on the web if you want to see it, go to expn.com and it's around there somewhere.

for those of you who did watch it...
Gagniers run...it was sex. Huge grabs and spins both ways and all switched up. I think for sure he had the nicest run. Tanner didn't get robbed so I think he needs to stop talking smack. And frankly, if Jon Olosson had stomped his last sw 10 on the his 2nd run he would've had gold. it's too bad he didn't because he's so awesome.
am i the only one who thinks CR Johnson got robbed of points? back 10s, nobody was doing that.

whatever, can't wait till superpipe, i hope Candide competes he is my god.

Snow Please? [29 Jan 2005|03:49am]

canadianskibum
Up here in the Vancouver area we've received LOTS of rain, EVERYWHERE. It's horrible. All of the local mountains are closed except for Grouse which just reopened yesterday but even then, it's not worth getting out there. The rain removed most of the snow from all the hills. Whislter is still open but they're not in great conditions. It's supposed to be cooling down so expect some snow soon! I guess it's just a question of how soon.
How are conditions at your local areas?

Congrats to the East Coasters for their recent dumps. I hope you all got your fair share of face shots.

Rain [10 Jan 2005|09:45pm]

canadianskibum
To give you an idea of how much snow Tahoe has received... they've received more rain in the last 10 days than the yearly average. Now that's alot of potential snow.

On a completely different note. I hit Mt. Baker on Friday for a 43cm (17 inch) day of fresh powder. Tons of cliffs and great lines, definately an amazing day. On a bad note, I lost a ski when I fell over a bush and off a cliff. When all was said and done, I ended up with 7 stitches and a bulletproof reason to remember to wear my helmet and keep it done up tight. (I had my helmet on, it just wasn't tight enough)
It could have been alot worse had I not been wearing my helmet so I'm not complaining.

Lesson of the week boys and girls, wear your helmet if you intend on doing anything aside from groomers! You jsut never know what's going to happen.

Epic Snow Storm [06 Jan 2005|09:24pm]

canadianskibum
Greater Lake Tahoe Area:
...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM FRIDAY TO 4 PM
PST MONDAY...
SNOW IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN LATE TONIGHT AND CONTINUE THROUGH
MONDAY WITH HEAVY SNOW AT TIMES. BY MONDAY AFTERNOON...TOTAL
SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 3 TO 5 FEET ARE EXPECTED AT LAKE LEVEL...WITH 5
TO 8 FEET ABOVE 7000 FEET. WIND GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH AT LAKE LEVEL AND
ABOVE 100 MPH OVER THE RIDGES WILL PRODUCE AREAS OF BLOWING AND
DRIFTING SNOW WITH NEAR ZERO VISIBILITY AT TIMES.

Check: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/alerts/nv.html
for conditions in your area.

People are speculating that this weekends storm could exceed last weekends total accumulation. This storm is supposed to hit parts of the Sierre-Nevada range and the Tahoe basin so make sure to check your forecast if you live anywhere near these areas! Apparently it has something to do with 3 storms colliding... 1 from the Hawaii, 1 from the Gulf of Mexico and another coming down from Canada. You can see how that'd bring a signifigant amount of snow. Whether this weekend is destined to break records or not, it is certainly going to be epic. Get off the computer and strap on your fat skis! These are some of the best early early season conditions in years! Get out there and take advantage of it, you don't want to be regretting it... and with any luck you just might be able to avoid these moments of "near zero visibility".
Don't forget to pack your digital camera so we can all envy your luck!

Ski equipment help? [07 Jan 2005|12:23am]

barenakedfan
Hello all! I'm from Michigan, and have been skiing for 5 years, but I don't know much about the equipment. The equipment I use I borrow from my aunt, which she keeps in good condition. I was looking to buy some of my own equipment, boots to be specific. If I were to buy boots online somewhere, do I have to buy new bindings to match? Or will they fit the old bindings on the skies? And if I do in fact, need both bindings and skies, will new modern bindings fit on my old skies? I was hoping to not have to spend that much, maybe find a used pair of ski boots for $100-$150?

Any help would be appreciated!
